Philly Here We Come!

Picture of Philadelphia's City Hall on the right and the Masonic Temple on the left.
I'm feeling extremely fortunate to be in Philadelphia for the annual ASCD Conference this weekend! Here are a couple apps and activities that I learned about so far at the conference..Have Fun!

Songify (Free) Any thing you say will be turned into a song with this app. Some apptivities.....

  1. Math Facts
  2. Science Unit Terms
  3. Poetry
Talking Larry ($.99) I'm usually not a fan of the talking apps, but this one can do some pretty funny things. One of the sessions I went to yesterday really discussed using this type of app for students doing speeches or talking in front of the class. The student could read their script into this app, add some animation, and "Talking Larry" does the rest. She also recommended the students have the scripts written before going into the app. Found a little video because this app is pretty funny...

Another fun way to use the iPads in your classroom is by allowing your students to create online field trips for your class. After the sessions this weekend, I'm hoping to take in some of the historical sites in Philadelphia. iTunes would be a great reference for students to download visitors guides of places they could take a field trip. Philadelphia Official Visitors Guide App (Free) was a quick download and full of links and information.
